Providers may receive a 277 rejection for a claim due to incorrect insurance policy information. This rejection may be received electronically, in which case the provider will see those claims listed in their Insurance Claims Needing Attention, or they might receive an EOB on paper.
The provider then needs to call the municipality to have them work with the child's service coordinator to enter the correct insurance information into NYEIS or KIDS. If the child is enrolled in NYEIS, once the information is corrected, it will be received by the fiscal agent with the next EIBilling.com NYEIS data import. If the child is enrolled in KIDS, the municipality must upload a new insurance batch to EIBilling.com to share that data.
Providers will be able to see that the insurance information has been received by checking that child's details in the Child Lookup report. They will find this information under the third tab in
Child Lookup Details, "Insurance Policies."
Once providers see that the insurance information is correctly listed on EIBilling.com, they can print a
new letter of subrogation for that child. The provider can then use the
Insurance Claims Needing Attention page or the
Insurance Pending Claims page to resubmit the claims.
